FAQ
Why does Lunaday ask for my location?
To compute accurate sun, moon, and tide times for where you are, and to find your nearest tide station. Your location stays on your device. If you decline, moon phase and illumination still work — Lunaday just uses an approximate default location for the local sun, moon, and tide times until you allow access.
Where do the tides come from?
Public tide predictions from the U.S. NOAA tides & currents service. Tide coverage is available for U.S. coastal areas.
What's included in Lunaday+?
Lunaday+ is a one-time unlock (no subscription). It adds the full Sky Planner — the 30-day best-day timeline and tap-to-plan — plus premium widgets, all app icons and themes, and Watch & Siri extras. The free version keeps working forever.
Why does tonight sometimes show "no dark-sky window"?
The dark-sky window is the time after astronomical dusk and before dawn when the moon is below the horizon — the genuinely dark stretch for stargazing. On bright-moon nights (near a full moon) there often isn't one, so the stargazing score is low. That's expected: Lunaday reports the real sky, not an optimistic one.
Are the "traditional almanac" tips scientific?
No — and Lunaday labels them as such. The moon, sun, and tide data are real, on-device astronomy. The optional gardening guidance is folklore (traditional lunar planting), clearly marked "traditional almanac guidance," not a scientific claim.
