FAQ

Why is the app showing "No map data"?

Street lookups run against road data stored on your device, so you need to download a region first: open the app on iPhone, go to the Regions tab, and tap Download Current Area. Once it finishes, street names work fully offline — including on the watch after the region syncs over from your iPhone.

Why does StreetCall ask for my location?

Identifying the street you're on is the entire app. Your location is matched against on-device road data and never leaves your device. Background access is optional and only keeps the street name current while you drive.

What does "Last: … → …" mean?

You're off mapped roads — a parking lot, alley, or field. The first line is the last street you were on; the arrow line is the street you're heading toward, based on your direction of travel.

Where do the street names come from?

OpenStreetMap — the same community map data used worldwide. Road data © OpenStreetMap contributors. If a street is named wrong or missing, it can be fixed at openstreetmap.org, and your next region download will pick it up.

Does the watch app work without my iPhone?

Yes, on watches with built-in GPS — once a downloaded region has synced from the iPhone, street lookups run entirely on the watch.
